The honest part
Watching YouTube videos won't make you a designer.
Tutorials show you someone else's decisions. Skill comes from making your own, so every lesson here has you design.
How a lesson works
The editor opens beside the lesson. You do the work.
Here is a real lesson pattern from the free Figma course: short steps on the left, the design on the right, and a tick the moment you get it right.

Learning UI UX design for free: your questions
Can I really learn UI UX design for free?
Yes. The six Foundations units, the 25 Figma lessons and the UX games are free, with no card and no sign-up to start. You learn typography, colour, layout, design thinking and Figma by doing them in a real editor.
Can I become a UI UX designer by watching YouTube videos?
Not on their own. Videos show you someone else's decisions. Design is a practical skill, so you need to make the decisions yourself, get feedback and fix your work. That is why every lesson here has you designing in an editor rather than watching.
Do I need to know coding to learn UI UX design?
No. UI and UX design is about understanding people and designing screens, flows and systems. You don't need to code, though later units show you how to work with developers and AI coding tools.
Do I need an expensive laptop or paid software?
No. The lessons run in your browser on an ordinary laptop or desktop. Figma has a free plan, and the course's editor needs no download at all.
What should a beginner learn first in UI UX design?
Start with the foundations: how people see, typography, colour, layout and design thinking. Learn Figma alongside them. After that come UX research, information architecture, UI craft, design systems, accessibility and prototyping, in that order.
How long does it take to learn UI UX design?
The free Foundations take most people a few weeks at an hour a day. The full roadmap has 29 units; how fast you go depends on how much time you design each week, not how many hours of video you watch.
Is there a certificate?
The free lessons don't give a certificate, and employers care far more about a portfolio. If you want a certificate, mentor feedback and a cohort, the UX UI Open bootcamp offers them.
